Book Tour: Stuck (Stitch Trilogy #3) by Samantha Durante #YA #SciFi #giveaway

On Tour with Prism Book Tours

I read the first two books in this series when I began blogging over five years ago, and was immediately hooked.  But then the author took a break from writing, and I feared I’d never know what happened to these characters.  Last month, she contacted me about this new release, and I was thrilled to learn she’d completed the series – can’t wait to dive into this book!

3, 2, 1… BOOM.

Things are finally looking up for the Resistance. Sure, Alessa is still processing the revelation that the best friend she’d presumed dead is miraculously alive, though far from well… And her boyfriend is being manipulated under threat of blackmail. But her quest for justice against those behind the systematic extermination of the world population is so close to victory she can taste it.

And then in a matter of seconds, everything Alessa believes in is shaken to the core. Months of preparation are obliterated. The people she cares for most are lost.

But Alessa is still standing. And Paragon must pay.

The odds are grim, but unexpected allies surface in the most unlikely of places: A new pair of citizens still under the colony’s rule who notice something amiss in the latest drama. An old adversary who realizes the error of her ways. And a veritable army of inhuman power and terrible strength, with an insatiable thirst for vengeance. The trustworthiness of each of these factions is yet to be proven, but without many other options, Alessa may have to take what she can get. Especially since the Engineers, never to be outdone, also have a few more tricks up their sleeves…

The long-awaited final installment in the riveting Stitch Trilogy, Stuck will have readers gripping their seats as Alessa and a handful of intrepid survivors usher their harrowing journey to a close, risking everything as they endeavor – once and for all – to set things right.

Mostly A’s – Citizen
You beat the odds and survived the apocalypse.  Now, you just want to relax: do whatever menial job you’re assigned each day, veg out in front of the latest drama episode at night, dig into some comforting hot entrees, and enjoy the resulting chemical cocktail of mild 24/7 euphoria.  Exploitation?  Abuses of power?  You don’t know nothin’ about any of that – and you’ve earned that ignorance.  Just keep floating along on your comfy little boat of naïveté, keep your head down, and ride out the rest of your years in security.

Mostly B’s – Rebel
Somehow you got wind of some nasty stuff going down behind the scenes in your supposedly peaceful compound, and you are not having it.  You’re not quite sure *who* is behind all the monkey business, but you refuse to sit by and be complicit.  Sure, you may be putting your life on the line by taking a stand, but who wants to live in a cesspool of lies and manipulation anyway?  Just remember, whatever you do, be careful what you eat!

Mostly C’s – Ruling Class
You’re one of Paragon’s best and brightest – and you know it.  Tasked with determining how things should operate in your newfound civilization, your brain is toiling all day, every day, for the benefit of all society.  So don’t you deserve a little break every now and then?  A bottle of wine, a lavish meal, a little, um, companionship (never mind if she’s willing – she wouldn’t be here if she wasn’t, right?).  You’ve earned it.  Without you, all those ingrate citizens would have torn each other to pieces by now.  Aren’t you owed a few perks of their labor?  Work hard, play hard – that’s your motto.

Mostly D’s – Engineer
A former titan of industry, you’ve got brains – and ambition – for days.  You recognized that the figurative ship was sinking, and your self-preservation instincts kicked into overdrive, ensuring that *at least* those who were worthy made it onto a lifeboat (naturally, that included you!).  Of course, there were some sacrifices necessary along the way (usually someone else’s, ::shrug::), but that’s the cost of being true to your ideals.  Some may call you a genocidal maniac, but they’re only seeing half the story.  You’re a genocidal maniac with a heart of gold!

Mostly E’s – Stuck
You were human once, you think.  It’s hard to remember when you’re battling that constant thirst for blood and carnage.  At one time you had hobbies, loved ones, dreams; now you’re more muscle and fury than anything.  But you still have your pastimes: a rousing romp in the forest, munching on a freshly torn-off limb, giving the prison guards a good old fashioned fright.  And if there’s one thing that really gets you going, it’s vengeance!  The trouble is, you can’t seem to remember who to direct all that anger at… and goodness help any innocent soul who gets in your way!

So, where did you land??  Share in the comments!

#BadMoonRising: Frostbitten: 12 Hymns of Misery by Steve Stred #horror #occult #giveaway

The winner of an ebook of Frostbitten is Hugh Roberts!  Congrats to Hugh and thanks to all who commented to enter.

Happy Halloween, and welcome to the last day of Bad Moon Rising!  As a treat (I promise it’s not a trick), today’s author will give away an e-book copy of his book to a random commenter determined by random.org.  We end this fourth year of Bad Moon with yet another testimony about evil Ouija boards.  If any of you kids (or adults) are thinking about picking one up, just read these interviews, and I promise you’ll rethink that decision.  Welcome Steve Stred!

You’re in a horror movie.  Are you the final person, the first to die, the comic relief, the skeptic, the smart one, or the killer?

I am both the final person but also the comic relief. I am a pretty sarcastic person and I spend a lot of time making little comments and quips.  Just ask my family.  I find them hilarious at least!  I would also do whatever it took to live.  So last man standing.  I can always entertain myself.

Vampires, ghosts, werewolves, or zombies – which would you least want to meet in a dark alley?

100% I would not want to meet werewolves. Other than fog, nothing scares me more in the world than werewolves.  If a werewolf was stalking me through a foggy alley, even worse.  I mean vampires are scary and sure ghosts and zombies suck in general but werewolves are freaking werewolves.  Giant wolf-men/women who want to rip you apart and can run really fast, jump really far and are really strong.  And your only defense is hoping you have silver or silver bullets around?  Not a chance.

Have you ever played with a Ouija board?

I actually have. I won’t get into too many details as I don’t want anyone identified who was there and who wouldn’t want this experience shared, but a group of us played with a Ouija board.  I was laying on my stomach, on the couch, half playing around, half admiring someone, when something happened in the room.  I was pinned to the couch by a really strong force and began to cry uncontrollably.  Incredibly unsettling and weird experience that I can’t explain.  I was in my early teens when it happened.

How do you develop your plots and characters?

I develop my plot/characters through my draft process. I typically have a fully thought out short story/novella/novel which I then point form on a word doc.  A lot of my stuff I write my first draft using the old trusty pen and paper approach.  Then I transfer to the computer and evolve as I go.  Ultimately I usually have thought about it so many times that it is just regurgitating what is in my brain to the paper.  I will normally have the title worked out when I start writing and I very rarely change the title once I get going.  I will get some feedback from my beta readers and street team and adapt as needed.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

I love spending time with my wife, my son and our dog. My son recently turned 2 so it’s a very exciting time filled with many tests of patience and frustrations ha-ha!  So it’s amazing watching him grow and develop.  I also spend a lot of time reading both with my son but also on my kindle.  I was a staunch advocate of physical books for many years, but since our son arrived the only way I can read is on my kindle so I have softened my beliefs.  It fills me with so much joy that he loves books so much, so I hope one day (even if he doesn’t like what I write) he is proud that I have books released.

What are you working on now?

I am always working on a bajillion things! Currently working on my second full length novel The Stranger, as well as a third novel, untitled as of now.  I am also working on my third collection of short stories, tentatively called The Night Crept In.  I have a neat compilation/novella on the go with two other writers, which I hope will see the light of day, two more of my own novellas, and another novella with another writer.  And to top it all off, I write kids-action adventure on the side for my nieces and nephews, so will be releasing some more of those things.  I haven’t officially announced it yet, but those will now be released under a pen name to reduce any confusion for readers.

Frostbitten: 12 Hymns of Misery repackages Author Steve Stred’s first two releases, here for you, in one easy to digest offering.  Taking his first short story (For Balder Walks) and his first short story anthology (The Fence: and Other Sordid Tales), and combining them, Steve has delivered a devastating mix of styles to truly work its way into your psyche.

12 Hymns of Misery is built in a similar manner to your favourite music album.

From the intricate, haunting openers of For Balder Walks and Jim, to the bridge section of creepy, action filled stories such as The Fence and Time Out Noose, coming-of-age tales like Edge of the Woods and Virtues of the Beast, culminating with the crescendo of the tortured closers; Old Man and the Alley, the reader will find themselves transported to a dozen nightmare filled landscapes, all sure to haunt the reader for years to come.

“Edge of the Woods is a dark little coming-of-age tale, bringing me right back to my childhood days on the playground.  Just the right amount of creepy, this one will leave you wanting more!”

Justin M. Woodward, Author of TAMER ANIMALS & Candy

“Time Out Noose is DAMN good!”

J.Z. Foster, Author of The Wicked Ones & Mind Wreck

#BadMoonRising: Grey Lore by Jean Knight Pace and Jacob Kennedy #YA #paranormal #giveaway #TuesdayBookBlog

THE WINNER OF THE E-BOOK GIVEAWAY IS STACI TROILO!

I have a surprise for you – today’s authors are giving away a Kindle e-book copy of their young adult paranormal novel!  All you need to do is leave a comment below, and the winner will be chosen by random.org and announced next Tuesday.  If you’d like to know what Homer Simpson has in common with zombies, read on.  Welcome Jean Knight Pace and Jacob Kennedy!

You’re in a horror movie.  Are you the final person, the first to die, the comic relief, the skeptic, the smart one, or the killer?

Jean: Hmm, definitely the first to die. Or the comic relief. My luck, I’d probably be both.

Vampires, ghosts, werewolves, or zombies – which would you least want to meet in a dark alley?

Jacob: If I were in a dark alley, I would prefer to meet a zombie. They seem slow and stupid. In fact the whole notion of the zombie as portrayed in popular lore, is that of a slow, unthinking, ravenously hungry creature not dissimilar to Homer Simpson. However, unlike Homer Simpson, for some inexplicable reason, nothing can stop the Zombie. Even though they are a decaying, rotting and can’t reason any better than a 1-year-old child, the zombie can take over the entire world. The best strategy against the zombie? Based on my simple observation…walk away. Barring that, a baseball bat should do the trick. It’s not rocket science.

If you were paid to spend the night in a haunted house, would you do it?

Jacob: I would have to ask, how haunted is this house? Where is it (because I’m not one to take a long trip unless it’s going to be awesome)? And how much does the gig pay ?

What tools do you feel are must-haves for writers?

Jean: Pen, notebook, computer. Just the basics for me. The other things honestly start to feel overwhelming. I enjoy a good book on craft here and there, but really just give me a pen and piece of paper.

What’s your work schedule like when you’re writing?

Jean: Generally, I do my part-time job and other stuff in the mornings. Then in the afternoons I write. I start with one or two unsavory or tedious tasks (usually something technical or marketing). And then I get to write and edit, which is my favorite part. I try to get several hours of writing and/or editing in each day.

What are you working on now?

Jean and Jacob: We’re working on a new series that we’re really excited about. It’s a middle grade series set in the White House with a Twilight zone-esque twist. It’s sci-fi, but some smart ghosts may or may not make a few appearances.

Despite the perks of living with her rich aunt, Ella’s new life in Napper, Indiana, is pretty much tragically boring.

Until Ella starts hearing strange voices.

As rogue wolves begin to stalk the edges of town and a serial killer with a penchant for silver bullets draws closer, the city of Napper seems to wake up.

Ella, with her new friends, Sam and Sarah, might be able to find out what the strange occurrences mean. Except that they’re all being pulled in different directions by people who love them; and some who don’t.

Before they lose their way to the whispers they hear from the past, or the call to a future they’re not sure they want to create, the friends will need to confront who they really are and figure out what’s hiding in the silence of their sleepy little town.

Sarah Giveaway and Price Reduction! #giveaway #horror #ghoststories #YA

I finished my second book and sent it out to beta readers Sunday!!!!  Between Bad Moon, book signings and festivals, several book review deadlines, and recurring insomnia, I wasn’t sure I’d finish it in time.  I’ve always told myself I’m not a procrastinator, I just work better under pressure – that’s my excuse, anyway.  Now, on to write the book blurb – which, like queries, is sometimes harder to create than the book.  And I’m still catching up on blog visits!

In honor of Halloween, ghosts, and black cats everywhere, Sarah is on sale at $2.99 for only one more week!   Visit Amazon to get your copy.

There’s also a giveaway for Sarah on Goodreads through November 5th – click here to enter.
