Not sure about you guys, but we’ve had the weirdest weather. I feel cheated because I enjoy at least a couple good snows per year. Temps are far above normal, and later this week we’re predicted to have mid to upper 70s weather. Makes me think the snow may arrive with the month of March – which happened a few years ago, I think. My brain equates February = snow and March = spring. The equations are definitely unbalanced this year.
For those of you who’ve traveled to Italy, I need some recommendations. Hubby and I are finally going. A few years ago we were working with a travel agent and getting ready to book – then the pandemic hit. Hubby will be in Milan on business mid June, so we decided I’ll fly over to meet him, and we’ll spend a week or so. We’re looking at taking the train from Milan to Venice, Rome, and Florence (maybe a couple, maybe all three). I’m ready for some good food and wine!
Over the weekend, I finally convinced hubby to give Breaking Bad a try. I got through the first season several years ago, but for some reason never finished the series. After the first episode, he asked me why we’d waited so long to watch it. If he’d listen to my recommendations more often, we wouldn’t be having these conversations.
Hope you all have a fantabulous week!
I’ve never been to Italy myself, but I’m sure you’re going to have a fabulous time! We had an ice storm two weeks ago that stranded everyone for FOUR days. And it’s going to be 83 today. Go figure!

Other than the storm in December, we’ve had unusually mild temps, Priscilla. I know TX has had its share of weird weather. If we get one more good snow, I’ll be happy.

Italy, the only place Amanda hasn’t been to, yet. I have only visited Genoa,Pompei and Messina in Scilly. I’m sure you will love it.

I’m hoping Amanda visits Italy. By the time it’s published, I could relive some memories with her.

I’ve been to Venice and Rome and loved both. Rome is just like the pictures and Venice was very special. I hope you have an amazing trip!

We’re really excited about it, Iseult. We’re looking for things to do and see. Hubby is a planner and wants everything in place before we go.

I’m envious. We were planning a trip back in 2001, but then 9/11 happened. We postponed but never rescheduled. I can’t wait to hear all about your trip. Take lots of photos, and bring home lots of recipes!

I’ll probably have weeks of photos to share, Staci, lol. And pics of all that mouthwatering food. I figure I’ll basically eat my way through Italy.

It’s already hitting 37 and 38 celsius and next week predictions is 40. It already feels summer here and we going to die in May. I hope you have amazing trip!

I just wonder how long the good weather will hold out here, Yesha. Our winter weather only last a couple weeks!

We’re really excited, Craig. Son #2 took advantage of abroad opportunities in college and has been to about twelve countries. Hubby has traveled to several on business. Now it’s my turn!

I agree the weather is crazy. We are supposed to get snow this week which used to be normal but we are out of practice for this month! I loved Italy. We went ten years ago. I loved each of the places you are going. I found everything is worth seeing that could be fit in! I couldn’t get enough of the art. We added in Cinque Terre tour which was amazing to see. I know you will enjoy whatever you do there.

Hubby isn’t big on art, but I’m still planning to fit some in whether he likes it or not, lol. And you sound like me – I want to see everything!

I was surprised my hubby enjoyed all the art there, we usually don’t do that. I got a kick out of watching couples come in and the woman giggling at the statue of David and the men not interested at all. It was a fun people watch moment 🙂 It’s all wonderful though, I know you will have a great time. Xo

We haven’t had snow here for 3 years, we are defo due some! I’ve never been to Italy but I’ve heard it’s beautiful there ❤️

So you’re the one getting our snow, Caro, lol. A friend of mine traveled to Italy with her aunt for a month and stayed in a villa. She loved every minute of it, and the pics were stunning.

We had one of the first snowstorms in PA history in March of 1993, so I’m really worried about how spring like February has been!
Going to Italy sounds amazing. I’ve never been, despite having relatives there. Enjoy your trip and take plenty of pictures!

Seems like we had snow in March of 2020. I can remember driving to the grocery store through a few inches of snow, mask in tow.
Sounds like you need to be planning a trip to visit family in Italy, Mae!

No recommendations since I was only in Italy briefly 30 years ago, but the train to Venice, Rome, and Florance sounds like a great idea.

I’ve never traveled by train anywhere, but I’m looking forward to it, John. A friend said it’s roughly a couple hours between destinations. Sounds like good reading time to me.

I took the bullet train from Paris to Avignon. It was wonderful. Come to think of it, I also took the train from Cologne to Dusseldorf in Germany as well. It was spectacular. Train travel in Europe is so much nicer than in the US

I traveled to Italy in the 70s, and I’m quite sure nothing is the same. 🙂 Sounds like a super fun trip, though. Congrats! My grandson keeps asking me if I’ve watched Breaking Bad yet. He loves it. I’ve seen a couple of episodes, but haven’t finished even one season yet.

I can’t believe I never finished the series, Jan, because I sure liked the first season. I watched it when the boys were still here, so I was probably busy with soccer/band/basketball/art, etc. at the time.

OOooooh. Italy….. I’m drooling. We can’t wait to go, Teri. Venice and Florence are high on our list. We also want to head far south (sea), and then far north (mountains). For us its a few years away so I’m envious.
And we loved Breaking Bad. It’s so intense to watch everything falling further and further apart. How fun that you’re just starting it. Enjoy. It’s crazy.

I’d love to visit both north and south, but that will have to be split into a couple trips. I’m already finding some tours I’m interested in, and we’re also looking at a cooking lesson. So many things to do!
We have a friend who’s been trying to get us to watch it for years, and it took a while to convince hubby. Again, if he’d listen to me more often, we’d be watching a lot more things.

I knew the south to north recommendation probably was a stretch. A cooking class? That sounds like So Much Fun. Yay.

I haven’t been to Italy in twenty years but I still remember how good the gelato was. Maybe because it was achingly hot when I was there (June and July) and we’d just buy it from street vendors. That’s pretty much all I ate in Rome 🙂 That and pizza in Venice which still might be the best pizza I’ve ever had… Oh I’m so jealous! Have a great trip!

Son #2 commented on the outstanding gelato – said ours in the US couldn’t compare. Hubby has also been to Italy before (without me – so not fair) and said the same thing about the pizza. I’d hoped we could go in September or October when the weather was cooler, but June is what worked out, so I’m not complaining. Thanks, Gemma!

It’s warm here as well. Saturday morning the low was 29, and I think it reached 80 for the high today. Earlier in the month, we had an ice storm. I don’t think winter is over, however. But you can have the snow! 🙂
How exciting about your trip to Italy!

We were also in the 20s Saturday morning, but today is mid 60s and only warmer as the week goes on. Such crazy weather.

I think we’re getting your winter here in Northern Arizona. We had record snowfall in January, then another snowstorm that dropped 12″ last week and we’re expecting another 6-12″ on Wednesday. That’s ok with me, as we need the moisture here in AZ.
When I lived in the UK we took several short trips to Italy. My favorite place in Italy is Venice. It’s so unique and interesting. And if you’re going to Florence, you might as well do a quick trip to Piza for that Iconic photo with the leaning tower. We went to Naples on a trip but were a bit disappointed with the city, however, Pompeii is close and that’s fascinating. And Rome is just amazing. I hope you enjoy your trip to Italy.

I guess I never thought about Arizona getting snow, Wendy, but you’ve sure gotten more than your share recently!
Thanks for the recs on Italy. We’re trying to narrow it down to a few places, so any and all information is helpful. I think Venice and Rome are definites.

My husband and I have those conversations too 😂. Oooo….Italy! That’ll be fun. It’s one of the few European countries I still need to visit. Hope you get some good recommendations!

This will be my first European country – the first of many I’m hoping. Greece, Ireland, and Scotland are also high on my list. Maybe next year we’ll check off another one!

That will be an amazing vacation for you, I’m sure. Wow.
Breaking Bad ruined my favorite joke. I had never seen it. My favorite joke (about myself) was that if work got unbearable, I’d buy a used RV and move to the desert — and teach the cats to hunt lizards for dinner. Then a coworker asked if I was going to make (drugs) (not sure what we can type here)… Huh? Then he explained about the show. LOL.
Hugs.

That’s funny, Teagan, lol. Seems to me like you should have gotten some kind of credit from the show. But no way would I eat the lizards.

Hi Teri, how exciting that you are going to Italy. Our highlight of Florence was the Uffizi & Accademia Gallery with a private tour of Michelangelo’s David.

I cannot wait to hear about your experience with Breaking Bad! (and Italy, of course!) I think going to Italy would be awesome – the plane ride, eh, not so much. If you can, get extended leg room (I think you have to pay a little bit more per seat). It’s worth it.

I thought of you when we started watching Breaking Bad, Sue, lol. It’s so hard to find something hubby will watch, I was thrilled. And I’m definitely getting some extra space on the flights. I’m willing to pay more for it.
