Appreciation and #AmWatching (lots of things)

Thanks to Shannon at R&R Book Tours and all the hosts for a wonderful blog tour last week! I’m still doing happy dances over the positive reviews The Insurgent received. After struggling with this book, it’s such a relief to know that readers are happy with the conclusion of Asher’s story.

Let’s talk about the new season of Stranger Things. So. Good. I started it Friday night, and even though the episodes are over an hour, by Saturday night I only had one left, and I’m hoping to watch it tonight. This might be my favorite season after the first one. I have the original song Running Up That Hill by Kate Bush (along with two covers of the same song) and, with this series being set in the 80s, was so excited to hear it used in several episodes. It was especially perfect for one seriously tense scene (I’m pretty sure I wasn’t breathing) that I won’t mention here. If you haven’t watched it yet, a binge session awaits you.

The first episode of season three of For All Mankind dropped Friday, and that one was also all kinds of nerve-wracking. Now I have to wait until next Friday for a new episode (wish they dropped the whole season like Netflix).

As a Star Wars fan, I was so excited for Obi-Wan Kenobi, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Ben was always a favorite character, and Ewan McGregor is perfect in the role. The young actress who plays ten-year-old Pricess Leia is a pure delight. She’s feisty, wise beyond her years, and totally able to hold her own in scenes with Ewan. This won’t be the last we see of her.

I gave in and finally subscribed to Paramount Plus. I got caught up on season two of Evil (previously on CBS and then unfairly moved to Paramount) and watched the first episode of season three that dropped last night. Hubby and I started Mayor of Kingstown and 1883 – we’ll watch anything Yellowstone-related.

Even with all that, I still managed to get some reading done and have reviews to write. Have a great week!

    1. I love anything have to do with space, but the alternate history angle with this show has fascinated me, Priscilla. Hope you get to start it soon. Yay for other ways to stream!

  1. Totally agree about Stranger Things and Obi Wan Kenobi. Stranger Things was so good! We finished the episodes last week. And Princess Leia is just too darn cute. She’s played to perfection. Glad the blog tour went so well! The duology truly deserves it ❤️

    1. Those teens have grown so much since Stranger Things started. I’m anxious to see what happens in the last episode – and it’s movie length! The young Leia is adorable and does such a good job. I still have to watch the latest episode. Thanks for the kind words about The Colony, Tessa!

  2. Congrats on the success of the book tour, Teri! Your enthusiasm for these shows comes through in your post. I recently binge-watched Ozark and got NOTHING else done. It’s for that reason I avoid series. But these sound so good. I’m tempted. 🙂

  3. I recently signed up for Paramount+. There was a movie I really wanted to watch so I signed up fully intending to cancel it after watching it but I saw a lot of stuff in there that I would like to watch so I’ve kept it for now.

    1. Yes! I watched the first episode of it and forgot to mention it in the post. I love the premise, and Schwab is one of my favorite authors so I already had high expectations.

  4. I’m so glad you had a wonderful tour. Makes all the work worthwhile, especially when the reviews start coming in. 🙂 A great feeling. And thanks for the “I’m watching” round-up. I hadn’t heard of For All Mankind. I’m jotting that one down as we’re always scrambling for a good show. A series will last us a week, so we need lots of seasons! Lol. Enjoy the book-glow, my friend.

    1. I think you’ll be sucked in my the alternate history in For All Mankind, Diana (the Russians beat us to the moon in the 60s). It’s not a spoiler – it happens in the first thirty minutes of the first episode. And you’re so right about the reviews. Makes all those days agonizing over the book worth it!

  5. If they nail those final two episodes (and I see no reason why they won’t) this could be my favorite season of Stranger Things yet 🙂

When you get the chance checkout The Offer it’s why I signed up for Paramount Plus and it’s been really good!

    1. The Offer is definitely on our list – we’re big Godfather fans, and it’s one of the best books I’ve ever read. This season of Stranger Things has the potential to be my favorite also, Gemma. i just finished it today and part two of the season drops in July – woohoo!

Stranger Things IS amazing, isn’t it? I don’t understand why they are waiting to show the last two episodes, though. It’s weird. I don’t understand television scheduling anymore. But, on the other hand, I’m SO glad the book tour went well. That’s great!! 🙂

Congratulations on an excellent book launch.

I’m so behind on my movie and show watching. But I have so many other things going on, and so many books I want to read, that it keeps getting neglected. I’m going to have to assign what would usually be my reading time on a day or two of each week to viewing time or something.

    1. Thanks, Tori! I’ve been behind for quite a while with reading (still am!), but then all these shows dropped around the same time and I’m struggling to balance everything. Where are those extra hours in the day when you need them?

  8. I’ve been on the fence about Paramount+ since it came out. I’m so angry with CBS for getting me interested in Evil, then moving it. Wondering if it’s worth the subscription to yet ANOTHER service. But I kind of want to see 1883. I don’t think I’ll like 6666 because I didn’t care for Jimmy.

The Boys is four episodes in. That made me happy. Finally.

What do you think of the Paramount+ subscription? Worth it?

    1. That’s why I put off subscribing to Paramount for so long – my way of protesting. Not that it did any good. We opted for the $4.99 (or something close to that) per month that includes commercials. Honestly, the commercials aren’t that bad – a good time for potty breaks, lol. Right now I’m saying it’s worth it because we’re addicted to 1883, and I’m watching Evil and Mayor of Kingstown. I haven’t even explored everything they have. The Boys is up next for me!

      1. I think after I move I may take the plunge. I don’t think I’m re-subscribing to any cable/dish companies. There’s seldom anything on, and the few things I take chances on get cancelled or moved to streaming services, anyway. (You know me; the kiss of death for a show.)

        1. Just recently I started watching something I really liked and started to ask if you’d also been watching it. If so, with both of us watching I knew it was guaranteed to be cancelled, lol. Now I forget what it was.
