Happy Monday! I’ve got several things going on this week besides work. A good friend’s birthday is Wednesday, hubby and I are going out of town (more on that below), book club tomorrow night, and Thursday and Friday we’re getting carpet installed. This is the second attempt. We’ve been in our house nearly sixteen years, and after we put a contract on the house all those years ago, the builder bought the cheapest carpet on the market. Those years saw numerous sleepovers and parties with the boys and their friends, lots of soccer, football, basketball and band shoes traipsing through the house, and too many spills to count. So we waited until the sons were out of the house. Originally the carpet installation was scheduled two weeks ago. Two very nice young men showed up and started in Son #2’s room – and the carpet didn’t look quite like what I’d chosen. I figured it might be the lighting. It wasn’t. Long story short, some lady in Knoxville got half my order, and I got half of hers. It’s not the fault of the local place, but the supplier they ordered it from. I’ll let you know next week if we’re breathing the new carpet smell.
This Saturday, April 30th from 10am – 3pm I’ll be at Madison County Public Library in Richmond, KY for their first Youth Book Festival. It happens to be conveniently located about forty minutes from where Son #1 lives, so hubby and I will spend the weekend in Lexington. Books, talking to readers, plus visiting our son – woohoo!
In case you missed it, I posted an excerpt from The Insurgent on Friday HERE Considering it releases in less than a month (May 19th), I figured it was time to get some teasers out into the world. I plan on posting an excerpt every Friday (and maybe some bonus days) until it releases, so make sure to stop by! You can also still sign up for the blog tour HERE.
Have a great week!
A great weekend coming up! Good luck with the carpet installation.

Hoping it’s the correct one this time, Mae – they’ve assured me it is, lol. I’m so excited to be doing in person events again – and then get to spend the evening with Son #1!

Busy times. I hate moving all that furniture around.

Yes! We had it all moved around then had to put a lot of it back since we were hosting Easter dinner. So now I get to start all over.

So weird about the carpet. I hope everything eventually works out. May 19th is not too far away, exciting!

Keeping my fingers crossed this week, Priscilla. And that release date really creeped up on me. How can May be here so soon?

I had to laugh at the carpet debacle, Teri. It seems to be the kind of world we live in these days. Things get mixed up. Hopefully, it will turn out okay. How wonderful to have another book festival to participate in! Have fun, and sell some books!

Considering our luck with previous projects, I honestly wasn’t surprised, Jan, lol. So excited for another book festival! Just stumbled across this one online and was still able to apply.

Oh no! Hope your carpet arrives soon! I ordered a carpet for my room as its bring decorated and didn’t even think about supply issues and have to wait 7 weeks for it!!!

And I hope yours comes soon, Caro! I was surprised mine got here so soon – wrong and correct carpet. The local place said they haven’t been dealing with many supply issues so far, so I was lucky.

OMG a carpet switch! Like a bad romance where the carpet lands with the wrong owner LOL

I honestly never thought about it that way Sophie, but I like your analogy, lol.

There is such a big difference between a cheap builder-grade carpet and a good carpet. Best wishes to you on your carpet. And enjoy your trip to Kentucky!

You’re right about that, Wendy. Every time we’ve bought a house the carpet has already been installed, so this was my first time actually choosing carpet. And the cat even approved it from the sample board I brought home, lol.

So do I, Yesha. You should see what my dining room and living room look like right now with all the things we had to move out of the bedrooms. Why do we have so much stuff?

I have done shifting about 4 times so I can imagine and one last time will be next year when our flat will be finally ready to move in.

I’m really looking forward to the weekend. It’s been months since we were in Lexington. And just got a confirmation call about the carpet for tomorrow – looks like it’s a go.

That’s so bad they put down the wrong carpet! I hope they have sorted it out now!

They’ve reassured me they do, so I’ll be double checking it tomorrow before they roll it out, lol.

HI Teri, it is so nice that you have book events. I wish we had them here. It is so much easier to sell books face-to-face than virtually. I hope you get your new carpets soon.

I agree with that, Robbie. And it’s so much fun meeting readers and talking about books. Sure hope the events get started again in your area.

Thanks, Miriam! I’m realizing just how much STUFF we have (mostly the boys) and plan to do a cleaning out before things get moved back into the rooms. My living room and dining room look like obstacles courses right now!

I know how it feel, Teri! Even when hubby painted the rooms, I realized how many clothes we had. We started to take some to Goodwill since then!

That’s frustrating about the carpet issues. Awesome about the book festival though.

It sure was, but it’s all finished now. The book festival was a fun one. Always a great time when I’m meeting readers and other authors.
