It’s giveaway time! The Insurgent doesn’t release until May 19, 2022, but you can win a signed paperback copy (US only) or ebook (international) now. All you have to do is reply to one question and leave an answer in the comment section. A random commenter will be chosen and the winner announced here and on my social media accounts next Wednesday, March 16th. The deadline to enter is midnight March 15th. Since we all love books (or else you wouldn’t be here) and this is a book blog, it’s an easy question to answer.
What are you reading right now?
Below is the book description.
If a megalomaniac threatened your family, would you give up your freedom for them? Would you give up your soul?
Asher Solomon is faced with that choice. And makes the ultimate sacrifice.
Exactly as Director Silas Reeves expected him to.
Unable to live as the Colony’s premier assassin, Ash retreats to a corner of his mind, ceding control of his body to the alter-ego he was engineered to be-Subject A36. As he’s unleashed to battle the Insurgents, the only family he ever knew, the tide of war shifts in Silas’s favor.
Combined with his expansion into new territories, the director is poised to take over the world.
But the Insurgents don’t give up easily. Not on their cause, and not on their people. With the help of a few double agents deep in the Colony, they stand a fighting chance at ending Silas’s reign.
In order to shut down the program, they face almost insurmountable odds. And their most dangerous foe-their former champion turned killing machine, A36.
I’m currently reading a book called “Critical Role: Vox Machina—Kith & Kin” which is a fantasy based on a role-playing adventure. I’m also working my way through “The Artists’ Way” with a group that meets via the ACB community on Zoom.

The Artists’ Way sounds like one I need to read – and how awesome that you’re doing a group read, Tori.

Yeah, it’s an interesting one. We’re about a third of the way through it.

I’m actually reading two books at once: one during the day on lunch breeaks, etc and one in bed before falling asleep at night.
During the day, I’m enjoying Means to Deceive by Alex Craigie, which is wonderfully well written and a real nail biter at times. And at night, I’m re-reading a fantasy series I read years ago when it was first released: The Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews. I’m enjoying it every bit as much as I did the first time around, as I’ve forgotten huge chunks of it over time. It’s a great way to escape from all that’s happening in the world right now.
Looking forward to reading The Insurgent soon, too, one way or another! Great contest, Teri! 😀

Alex is on my list – hoping to get to her soon! I wasn’t familiar with the Daniels series, but it sure has some fantastic reviews. Sounds like something I’d enjoy. Have a great weekend, Marcia!

Oh, if you’ve never read Ilona Andrews (a husband and wife team), you really should try to find time to check them out. They write terrific urban fantasy, and this particular series is just one of their many good ones. (The Beast Lord, Curran, is one of my favorite all time shifters, and a LION of a man. Literally. I’m enjoying it every bit as much this time as the first time I read it.
And while Means to Deceive is a whole ‘nuther kind of book, it’s also terrific! You’ve got some goodies in store for you, for sure! 😀

I’m currently reading 2 books and will probably be starting on others soon as well. I started Praying for Rain by B.B Easton last week while I was in Florida. I managed to get 21% into it and so far I’m liking it. Last night I started Sleeping Beauties by Stephen and Owen King. I only managed 2 chapters so I don’t really have much of an opinion on it yet.
I’ve fallen behind on my reading recently because of everything going on in my personal life that there are so many books I still need to get to but I’m hoping I will finally be able to get to them now that I am getting back to reading.

I’m so far behind on my King reading it would probably take me a year to catch up! I just went to our local library book sale this morning (hard backs only $1!) and hoped to find some King books, but didn’t come across even one. Hope things settle down for you soon, Misty!

I’m surprised I am still sticking to reading one King book a month. Being in a reading group for it has definitely helped. I haven’t been to a library book sale in years. I actually think my library stopped doing their book sales a while ago. Thank you!!

I’m reading Crimechurch by Botur. I know nothing about it, so it’s a bit of a reading adventure for me. It’s a read-n-review request, so I was happy to help out a fellow author.

I always like helping out other authors. I’m starting to get caught up on some reviews I owe from far too long ago. Happy Reading, Priscilla!

Congratulations, Teri! It’s such a great feeling to birth another book baby. I am currently reading The Shattered Gate by Eric Swanson. This is a new author to me and the book is sci-fi.

Teri, I’m so excited to see that this book is almost here. Sharing everywhere.
Oh, what am I reading? I don’t read much nonfiction (aside from vast quantities of research), but I recently started “Nonviolent Communication, a Language of Life” by Marshall B. Rosenberg PhD. After a couple of decades as a “technical communicator” I’m still interested in the subject of how we interact with one another. Hugs on the wing!

That sounds like something Son #2 (a psych major) would love to read, Teagan. I’ll have to mention it to him. Hope you’re having a great weekend!

Woo Hoo. Of course I have to enter the giveaway, Teri. Congrats on the coming book. I love the blurb – a great hook. So, right now I’m reading a western romance by Sandra Cox called Silverhills. It’s got great characters, lots of action, and isn’t heavy on the romance. 😀

Thanks, Diana! I don’t know that I’ve ever read a western romance – maybe it’s something I’ll eventually get to? Glad you entered!

Even though this one has lots of action, it’s definitely for romance readers.
