Weekend, #BadMoonRising, and #AmWatching

This was my birthday weekend and I pretty much did nothing but read. The weather wasn’t sweltering, there was a nice breeze, and I spent the better part of Saturday and Sunday afternoons on the patio with my Kindle. I’m way behind on reading and reviews, and with NetGalley books I always try to get the review done and posted before publication day, so it was nice to make some progress. Son #2 flew in from Austin – not specifically for my birthday, but his friend happened to have one the same weekend. Honestly, the longest amount of time we spent with him was driving back and forth from the airport in Nashville, lol. Not that I played the guilt card – he made loads of friends here and I know he wanted to see them. We’re talking about making another trip to Austin in October. Now that he’s been there a few months, he’s found some places he’d like to take us.

I might have the last spot for Bad Moon Rising filled? I received an email from an author, but couldn’t find the name on Amazon, and I’ve asked for a book link or the name they write under. Usually a couple authors never return their info, so I always like to have backups. If I have more than thirty-one, that’s fine – I’ll do extra posts if I have to. Better than not having enough. If you’re one of the participants, the deadline for submitting your info is this Saturday! I’ll start prepping the posts this week. It may sound like a chore, but you’d be surprised how quickly I can finish them – especially when I’m laughing at some of the answers.

Two of my favorite shows are back! The eleventh season of The Walking Dead started a few weeks ago, and the final season of Lucifer dropped Friday on Netflix. I also started watching The Chair on Netflix with Sandra Oh. You might think the trials and tribulations of an English department chair at a major university sounds kind of dry, but I was surprised at how humorous it is. Holland Taylor is an absolute delight as one of the professors.

Here’s to a productive week – cheers!

  1. Happy belated birthday, Teri! Reading on the patio in beautiful weather sounds like a wonderful way to enjoy the time. I’m glad you got to see your son too, even if he was breezing in and out, LOL.

BTW, I sent you my Bad Moon Rising info a week or so ago. I just want to make sure you received it.

    1. Thanks, Jan! It was a peaceful kind of weekend and the weather was perfect for lounging around on the patio. I’ll take that kind of day anytime I can get it. I’ll also be curious to see where he takes us – I’ll keep you informed.

    1. Thanks, Misty! You’ve got a lot of binging to do, lol! I sure wouldn’t mind going back to TWD and doing a rewatch, but I’ve got so many new ones waiting in my queue it won’t be happening anytime soon. Have a great week!

  2. Happy Birthday!!! Hope you had some yummy cake 🎂😉. You know, we were talking to our daughters last night and I said I was thinking about coming up to see them in October and my youngest’s response was, “why would you do that?” I think Covid has made her forget we normally come up if we aren’t going to see them for more than a month. Lol. Crazy adult kids!

    1. Thanks, Tessa! That sounds like something son #2 would say – he’s always been blatantly honest, lol. Hope you have a wonderful time when you visit. We’re hoping the weather might be out of the 90s by the time we get there in October.

  3. Happy Birthday, Teri. It sounds like you had a relaxing lounge-around day. And some reading to fill the hours between celebrating. We started up with The Walking Dead again, though I’ll admit to feeling a little tired of “the plot that goes nowhere and is never going to end.” We’ve been addicted to The Handmaid’s Tale, or as my husband calls it… “that disturbing show.” Lol. Have an awesome week.

    1. Thanks, Diana! I’m a diehard fan of TWD, but I tend to agree with you about the plot. It’s right that they’re ending it after the 11th season. The Handmaid’s Tale is something I know I’d enjoy, but I’ve never gotten around to watching it yet. At least your hubby watches it, disturbing as it is – mine won’t go near it, lol.

      1. Oh, I didn’t know TWD is ending. I’m kind of glad, assuming they find a home and aren’t all eaten. I hope there’s something as riveting taking its place. And my husband is addicted to The Handmaid’s Tale. It’s really dark; he can’t look away.

  4. Happy belated birthday, Teri! I understand totally about spending time with the grown children. I spent two weeks with my daughter’s family helping to take care of the granddaughters. I was there with them but my daughter and son-in-law were busy with different things and didn’t spend “alone time” with me. I’m sure you’ll have a good visit with your son in Austin.
I look forward to visiting your Bad Moon Rising as much as possible.

      1. I went out with my daughter when she met up with a friend at a park. Her friend said she saw her family all the time during pandemic but looked forward to meeting with friends again. It was an eye opening comment to me. Yes, I had a wonderful time with my granddaughters, Teri.

  5. I had a reminder on my Alexa to finish up my Bad Moon stuff — but all the chaos, I’m glad you reminded us here. Thanks for saying that about The Chair being humorous. I should check it out.
Belated wishes for a happy birthday. I hope you’re still celebrating, Teri. Many happy returns.

  6. I’m glad you had a good birthday!

As to Bad Moon Rising, I know it’s already started, but is it too late to get in? My GURPS Fantasy Folk: Elves was just released a few days ago. I didn’t actually know the release date until less than a day before it came out!
