What happened to last week? I had a long to-do list and made progress, but the time sure flew by. And here we are at Monday again.
Son #2’s birthday was a little over a week ago (Friday the 13th). He and Son #1 are complete polar opposites with their interests in most things, but they share a love of Avatar: The Last Airbender. Son #2 even has a tattoo related to the series. Son #1 sent him a totally cool, creative birthday gift. He got the voice actor of Son #2’s favorite character to make a cameo – a personalized celebrity video message. They seem to be pretty trendy right now, and there’s a website that lists the celebrities HERE. It was perfect, and the actor did a fantastic job. It’s a great idea if you’re looking for something different.
I’ve always said the scariest movie ever made was The Exorcist, and I try to watch it at least once per year around Halloween. I’m late to the party on this one, but I just heard last week there’s a continuation, not a remake, of The Exorcist Trilogy, with the first one scheduled for release October 2023. Ellen Burnstyn is reprising her role as Chris MacNeil, the mother to Linda Blair’s Regan. Some fans may not be as enthusiastic about the project, but I’m excited. I just wish it wasn’t two years away.
Hubby was out of town last week, so when he travels I watch the movies he has no interest in (I have no shortage of things to choose from). I finally got around to The Tomorrow War with Chris Pratt on Amazon Prime. It’s a long one at over two hours, but it sure held my interest. Here’s the official description: The world is stunned when a group of time travellers arrive from the year 2051 to deliver an urgent message: thirty years in the future, mankind is losing a global war against a deadly alien species. I’m a sucker for just about any type of time travel story, and I’m a fan of Pratt. The aliens were just a bonus. If you’re a sci-fi fan, give it a try.
Hope you all have a healthy, fabulous week!
I try to watch The Exorcist at least once a year, too (usually near Halloween). It’s got to be the best horror movie ever made. I hadn’t heard about the continuation of the series.
I liked The Tomorrow War. I wouldn’t say I loved it, but I liked it. Have you seen Reminiscence (with Hugh Jackman)? I had high hopes, and the acting was great, but the plot left me wanting more.
Happy belated birthday to your son.

Thanks, Staci! I feel the same as you about The Tomorrow War – it held my interest, but it wouldn’t be a rewatch. Reminiscence is on my list, but I haven’t seen any reviews on it. It’s definitely one hubby wouldn’t be interested in, so I’ll add it to my long list of things to watch when he’s not home, lol.

I like the idea of the battle against aliens in the Tomorrow War. I haven’t seen it yet but need to put it on my radar. I’m eagerly awaiting for Prime’s new LOTR series that (I think) is due in September.
As for the Exorcist? I watched it once and that was more than enough for me. I can’t watch movies with demonic themes. They freak me out!

Yes! I’m also excited about the new LOTR series – didn’t know it was coming up so soon, but I’ll mark it on the calendar. I have a friend who is a horror movie fan, but also won’t watch anything with demonic themes, so you’re not alone, Mae, lol.

That was a thoughtful gift for sure. I watched Tomorrow War. It was fun while it lasted, but kind of forgettable after that. I had to look it up to see if I’d watched it yet. JK Simmons was my reminder. I love that actor.

Fun but forgettable is an apt description, Craig. JK Simmons is always a treat in anything he does. I think my first encounter with him was in Spiderman years ago.

Me, too. I loved the cameo he did at the end of Far From Home.

What a wonderful gift. I’m with Mae…if the Exorcist is on TV, I’m hiding under the covers!

It’s a gift he really appreciated – he’s shown it to all his friends. Hubby won’t even stay in the room if The Exorcist is on, lol.

During my college years, we’d go to the bars in Georgetown, close to the house where the movie was filmed. I couldn’t even look at the place!

The Exorcist is freaky and scary, both the movie and the book. I didn’t know there was going to be a continuation. I dunno if I’ll watch it. I don’t want to ruin the “good” memories from the original.

I haven’t seen parts 2 or 3 in years, and I honestly don’t remember much about them. I’ll probably decide to see it based on what the trailer looks like, but I’m impressed Burnstyn is committed to the project.

I may look on that website and see what other celebrities are doing the cameos. I hear some of them are making loads of money on it. Have a great week, John!

I loved the twist in it – figured it out not too long before it was revealed. I was really impressed Son #1 came up with the idea. #2 thought it was the coolest gift he received. Thanks for stopping by, Tessa!

It’s still one of my favorite horror movies – the book was also just as chilling. Unless you’re a horror fan, I wouldn’t recommend it, lol. Have a great week, Yesha!

Right? Wouldn’t it be cool if they had actors to play the parts of our favorite book characters? Just imagine getting a cameo from Kaz Brekker, lol.

What a cool gift from son #1 to son #2! I’ll have to check the list of actors for cameos. 🙂
And thanks for the tip on The Tomorrow War, Teri. I’ve been wanting to watch that one but haven’t been able to get the husband to stop flicking.

I want to investigate that list further also, Diana. May give me some ideas. I know what you mean about the flicking – my hubby is also a flicker.

We watched Tomorrow War last night. Good recommendation! I looked through the list and it’s amazing how celebrity-clueless I am. Lol.

Fantastic gift your son got your other son for his birthday.
I’m even later to the party than you, because I didn’t know there was going to be aa continuation of The Exorcist until I read it in this post. At least, I don’t remember having heard about it anywhere else. Awesome news though.

Now I can’t even remember where I heard it, Tori. Glad I’m not the only clueless one, lol.

Hi TEri, it sounds like you used the time your hubby was away very productively. A most interesting and unusual gift you older son gave to your younger son. Very nice of him to be so considerate about his choice of gift.

I also got a bunch done on my WIP – yay! I’m planning on getting it to my editor next week so every second counts.
