Last Monday I mentioned I’d have an announcement this week – so here it is. Seems like it’s been forever coming, but I can now say the sequel to Subject A36 will be published May 19, 2022! Assuming I meet my deadline, lol. I’ve been revising and editing like a fiend over the past few weeks, and my beta has been reading chapters as quickly as I send them to her. She’s a superhero. Still no title yet (you can’t even be surprised by that), but it’s coming. I hate that it will be a little over two years between the books, something I hate as a reader, but it couldn’t be avoided. The pandemic messed with the creative flow of many writers, me included. I’m toying with the idea of doing some outtakes or bonus scenes for readers and making it free on my website before the release. Let me know your thoughts.
I can’t believe I haven’t mentioned this before, but has anyone watched Animal Kingdom? Hubby and I became addicted and binged four seasons on Amazon Prime in a little over a month (and you know how difficult it is to keep his interest). Season Five just started on TNT last week. It’s based on an Austrailian movie by the same name released in 2010. I watched it soon after its release, but didn’t remember much about it. This family is seriously dysfunctional, mostly because of Smurf, the mother/grandmother, but it’s impossible to look away. The way she manipulates those boys is disturbing, but completely fascinating. If you like dark crime shows, we highly recommend it.
Back to edits and revisions!
This is great news, although I think you must mean May 2022 as May 2021 is past! I know, the pandemic has made us lose a year. I look forward to learning the title.

Ack! When I was typing this yesterday I told myself to put the right year and still messed it up. Thanks for catching it, Darlene!

It was wishful thinking on your part!

YAY! When you said last week you’d have an announcement this week, I hoped that would be what it was. Wish the release date wasn’t so far off, but at least there’s now an estimated end in sight. Can’t wait to hear it’s finished and I can get my hands on a copy!
I do understand about the creative flow thing though. Between the pandemic and my Nan dying (last August) I struggled with writing last year too, and am way behind my planned publishing schedule with the stories I haven’t even half written yet.

So sorry to hear about your Nan, Tori. Last year just plain sucked. I know you’ve had some new releases, so you really made up for lost time!

Thanks. And, yeah, I managed to release those two poetry books, which made up for the long gap in publishing somewhat. Now I just need to finish writing those stories…

Congrats! That’s very good news ❤️. And, I haven’t tried Animal Kingdom yet but I’ve heard lots of good things about it. Have a great week!

Thanks, Tessa! We also just got around to finishing The Stamos show and we’re wondering if there will be a second season.

That’s a good question. I don’t think anything has been officially released yet but the people that analyze and predict that kind of stuff think there is a very good chance.

Congratulations on the upcoming release for next May. Having a date in sight is always exciting to look forward to. And I understand about the pandemic draining creative energy. I went through the same thing.
I haven’t seen Animal Kingdom. The next on my radar is Loki. I hope to binge all the episodes next week!

Thanks, Mae! I’m about halfway through Loki – he’s always been my favorite villain, and Hiddleston does such a fantastic job.

Yes – Darlene caught the wrong year! I even told myself to double check it yesterday and read over the post again this morning and still missed it, lol.

Congrats on the upcoming release, Teri. But May 2021 has come and gone. 🙂 Thanks for sharing your thoughts on Animal Kingdom!

Yep – I screwed up the date and still missed it this morning again before I posted it. Talk about attention to detail.

May 19th will be here before you know it. I think teaser scenes are fun, but they can be frustrating, too, because we have to wait so long for the rest of the story. I vote do whatever you think is best because people will be excited about the sequel either way.

Thanks, Priscilla. I sure hope people will be excited about the sequel even with the big gap in between the books.

Thanks, Sarah! Have to admit, I’ve been more productive lately. I’ve always said I’m not a procrastinator, I just work better under pressure. It’s the lie I keep telling myself, anyway.

It’s a good lie. One I might steal for myself. 🙂

Very exciting, Teri. Two years is okay between books I think. It takes me two years to write and edit a novel so I view that as a normal timeframe.

I don’t mind it so much if the books are standalones – two years is about my timeframe, but I hadn’t intended to do it with this duology. Couldn’t be helped, though.

We all work at our own pace. Excited that you have a date and time to get it done the way you want. I wouldn’t worry about the timing.

There’s nothing I can do about it anyway, so I just need to focus on completing it for now. Thanks, Craig!

I loved Subject A36 when I read it so I can’t wait to read the sequel. I will probably need to go back and reread it to refresh my memory though.

I’ve had to refer back to it also, Misty, lol! The character you named plays a bigger role than I’d expected in the sequel.

May will be here before you know it. I can’t wait for the book, Teri. And thanks for the Animal Kingdom recommendation. We’ll start it tonight! 🙂

And my deadline will be here even sooner! I hope you enjoy Animal Kingdom, Diana. That family dynamic – especially the mother – would make some fantastic case studies for psychologists, lol.

We watched about 3 episodes and will binge our way through the rest. It reminds me a bit of Breaking Bad. Thanks for the recommendation!
