Not much to report here, other than we’re still recovering from eating too much. Hope your Thanksgiving was as wonderful as ours. We were fortunate to be able to spend it with family and were thrilled to have our sons with us. I like to try new recipes – sometimes they’re a keeper, other times we’re struggling to choke it down. Without a test run, my youngest son and I made a Bourbon Chocolate-Walnut Pie and it was absolutely a keeper. The only thing we’d change is to add more bourbon next time around. We might have cheated a little by buying a pie crust, but I wasn’t ready to tackle one from scratch.
Did I write during the holiday? That would be a no. But I did get some plot ideas while walking and listening to music, so I don’t feel completely unproductive. I have plans today to dive back into the WIP.
Is anyone watching the new season of The Crown? I’ve enjoyed every season, but this might be my favorite yet since I remember the wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana. If you haven’t watched this series and you’re looking for something new to binge, I highly recommend it.
It’s in my list

Glad to hear this year’s experiment was a keeper. (You can never go wrong with more bourbon, in my opinion.)

Right? We thought it was an obvious choice.

Can’t blame you for buying the pie crust. I’m happy you had a nice Thanksgiving, Teri.

Thanks, Jill! I’ve never tried one from scratch and figured this wasn’t the time to attempt it.

It turned out to be a winner, Robbie. Our holiday was wonderful and peaceful – the best kind.

I think it may become a tradition, John. Easy to put together, too.

Pie is always a winner, no matter how it’s made. And no, we haven’t seen The Crown, but we just finished a series (Russian) called At the Lake. Most of the characters are annoying and you kind of want to see them get pushed off a wintery cliff, but as it goes on, some of them get better. LOL.

I’ve watched series like that where you’re just hoping something will eat/maim/kill some of the characters (Andrea from The Walking Dead), lol.

I often find good plot ideas are more valuable than getting words down. Sounds like you had a great holiday.

Glad you had a good Thanksgiving. It is not cheating buying a pie crust. I love trying new recipes on special occasions too. It must be our adventurous spirit.

I’ve never seen an episode of The Crown, but a lot of people talk about it. Maybe I should.

Seems like one of my book clubs is hooked, but I have other friends who didn’t get past the first couple episodes. Give it a try.

Dang! I’d sure like to try a slice of that pie, Teri. I’m a terrible cook, and I’ve given up baking completely.
I didn’t write during the holiday weekend either. I did some editing though, for the old novel I decided to turn into a monthly series.
Have fun binge watching! I need to find a new-to-me series, but I’ve become so picky. I just can’t handle anything violent (I mean the noisy kind) or contentious, or stupid. That doesn’t leave much. I like “procedural” shows, but I’m pretty well saturated with watching them.
Hugs on the wing.

I’m either a hit or miss with recipes, but my youngest son has always been a foodie and has gotten to the point that he makes up recipes and never measures anything. Several friends have recommended The Queen’s Gambit on Netflix – maybe give that one a try?

I’m glad you had a good Thanksgiving, Teri. And thanks for the recommendation of The Crown. No way can I get my remote-holder (husband) to watch that. We just finished bingeing all 7 seasons of The 100, and are looking for our next binge-worthy series. 🙂

That’s one I’d like to get to. I’m working my way through Supernatural and saw the new season of The Expanse drops in the next couple weeks.

Hang in there for first 3-4 episodes of The 100 while the teenagers are all making ridiculous choices. Then it gets better. 🙂

And “oooh” to the Expanse.

We watched The Crown until it switched to the character of the older Elizabeth. I couldn’t shake of the image of the younger character. After taking a long break, we watched the new series episode 1. I still don’t like the character of the Queen, but I’ll bear it. Good pick of the character for Diana. She doesn’t look like Princess Di. Look forward to the episode of the wedding.
Your Thanksgiving sounds great and the pie sounds delicious. I lost a few pounds since September but gained a couple back through the holiday, hoping it’s just the transition.
I haven’t even blogged for almost a week and hope to get back to my routine. 🙂

I haven’t even gotten on the scale, Mirium – trying to avoid it, lol. It took a bit to get used to the new Queen actor, but she does an outstanding job. With the wedding, all that’s shown is Diana in her dress – a little disappointing, but I get it.

I don’t like her teeth. Good thing she doesn’t make big smile in series 4. It’s better. Thanks for the heads up for Diana’s wedding, Teri. I remember reading about her in the news and remember she was a kindergarten teacher.

The Bourbon Chocolate Walnut Pie sounds amazing, Teri! You may have to share your recipe! I haven’t watched “The Crown.” I can’t seem to find an attention span long enough to indulge in a series. 🙂 ‘Tis the season!

Since I used the pre-made crust, it was simple to put together, Jan. Just throw everything in a bowl, whisk it together, then pour into the pie crust and bake. Maybe try watching just 30 minutes at a time?

Bourbon Chocolate-Walnut Pie…. oh. my. god.
DAMN I HATE how we don’t do ‘pie’ in Australia (well, the odd apple pie). I miss pumpkin pie and pecan pie (from my last few holidays in the states). Ugh. Now I’m so hungry….

I’m not really a fan of pumpkin or pecan pie, but it’s hard for me to turn down anything chocolate. Adding bourbon is just icing on the pie?
