Last Monday, I set a goal for adding 3K words to my WIP. I’m excited to say I exceeded that goal! I’m not in a writing group, so I think being accountable to you guys gives me that push I need. This week I’ll add 500 words to my goal and we’ll see how it goes. I have another five scenes in mind, and I had an epiphany last week while putting on makeup (that seems to be when they occur) about something that needs to occur. Other things need to be put in place first, but I’m really excited to write that scene.
A couple weeks ago, hubby and I watched My Spy on Amazon Prime. After Guardians of the Galaxy, I’m a Dave Bautista fan and with the sparse selection of new material out there, we took a chance of this one. Yes, it’s predictable (tough guy CIA agent meets smart, cute kid) and inspires eyerolls in some parts, but it also has some sweet and laughable moments. The young actress is a scene stealer and holds her own against Bautista, and their developing friendship is adorable and fun to watch.
Hope everyone had a fabulous and safe Fourth of July. We spent the day with friends hanging out by their pool drinking margaritas and eating burgers. When we got home that evening, we drug chairs into the backyard and watched fireworks. Plenty of neighbors were setting them off, so we had quite a colorful show. The cat wasn’t as crazy about them, so he stayed under the bed until the wee hours of the morning when all was quiet – then jumped into bed and slept on my head the rest of the night.
Have a great week and stay healthy!
I’m giggling about the cat sleeping on your head.
Congratulations on exceeding your word count expectations! That’s so exciting. And I’m happy to hear you had inspiration for more, too. (I can honestly say I don’t believe I ever got inspired while putting on makeup.)
Looking forward to hearing more!

The inspiration definitely comes at odd times – also while I’m on the treadmill. But I’ll take it where I can get it.
Bond has recently decided he likes my pillow better than anywhere else and forces me off. It’s true – cats rule the house.

I can’t say my dogs were much different when I lived with them. Maybe it’s more what we let them get away with and less what they want to do?

Congratulations on meeting your word goals!! Well done you. Guess what I´m reading right now? HInt – there are twins. Loving it so far!!

Thanks, Darlene – and you just made my day! I still miss those twins – they may be my most favorite characters. I’m thrilled you’re enjoying it.

Our neighborhood seemed to be setting off a lot of fireworks, too. Raven wasn’t wild about them but she hung around in her usual spots.
Congrats on that wonderful word count! I really need to start making more of an effort. It’s been a rough several weeks with different things going on, but I think I’m finally starting to see light at the end of the tunnel.
Oh, and My Spy sounds like fun! 🙂

They only started bothering Bond in the past two years – not sure why they do now. With the word count, Staci inspired me to make my goals public so there’s some accountability. It seems to work, so I’m sticking with it. Hope things settle down for you and you reach the end of that tunnel, Mae!

Grats on exceeding your goal! I watched My Spy and thought it was cute. Definitely predictable but I am okay with that ❤️

Thanks, Tessa! It’s absolutely predictable, but like you, I’m okay with that sometimes.

It wasn’t a bad movie, Jacquie. If you’re looking for light-hearted with a feel-good ending, I’d recommend it. And thanks!

The 4th makes my dogs nuts! I spent all week giving them melatonin to keep them calm and trying to find loud things to watch in the evening. Ugh. Least favorite holiday! Good luck with the writing!

Thanks so much! Just in the past two years have they started bothering our cat – before he couldn’t have cared less, so I’m not sure what the difference is now. Your poor dogs!

Funny about the cat sleeping on your head. There’s always a cat sleeping on my husband’s head. We have four cats, so it’s not always the same one. They leave me be. I must toss-n-turn too much.:-)
Good luck with your 3.5k this week!

I’d love to have more cats, but hubby is content with just one, and Bond doesn’t necessarily play well with others. He can tolerate my son’s cat for short periods of time. Thanks, Priscilla!

Sounds like a perfect fourth. If you exceed your goal relish the victory. (Don’t increase it cause relishing the victory is better than suffering the defeat.) Our pups hate fireworks.

Poor Twiggy and Lucy – hope they toughed it out okay. And I’m absolutely relishing the victory, John. Ready to get started on this week’s goal.

Good on you for busting that word goal, Teri! Hm. I wonder if I dare become accountable to my blog, and post my own goal?

Thanks, Jessica! I’ve discovered I perform better if I’m accountable to someone. If it’s just me, I let myself slide far too often.

That sounds familiar (case in point, this morning. I’m SUPPOSED to be writing right now 😉 )

You really are a cat lover, Teri. I don’t allow Pushy in my bedroom. I am glad you did so well on your wordcount. I have been editing A ghost and His Gold and did really well last week. This week has been very busy workwise and I am to tired to write at night so I’m hoping for a quieter Friday.

I’ve been a cat lover since childhood, Robbie. There’s no way Bond would allow us to close the door on him, lol. With all you do, I only envision you sleeping about 3 hours at night, lol. Good luck with the editing!

Awesome about the writing progress (and not only because I need you to finish that book so I can read it). Hope you do as well during this next week too.
Sounds like the kind of thing that would have happened with one of our cats when we had them… LOL!

I seem to be on a roll with the sequel, Tori, so I’m hoping it lasts. A lot of work to go on it.
This is a new thing with Bond. He used to be happy sleeping at the foot of the bed or beside me. Hoping it’s only a phase?

I expect so. He’s probably just seeking reasurance because things have been so stressful and all recently. Even if it hasn’t changed anything for him, he’ll feel it. That’s my theory anyhow.

I agree – when all this started happening, I noticed a change in him and he doesn’t like being alone. Can’t really blame him. Animals can sense a lot.

I love when kitties sleep on heads. It’s warm and comforting. Next time, try to get a picture! LOL! Our kitties noticed the noise, but didn’t care too much. I consider us lucky in that regard.

I wouldn’t mind if he kept still, but he kicks to get more room, then suddenly needs to bathe, and it doesn’t help that I’ve become a light sleeper. Glad your furry friends didn’t mind the noise.
