Here in KY, our restaurants opened to limited capacity indoor dining on Friday, and hubby and I had dinner out for the first time in three months! There were several restrictions in place for everyone’s safety – reservations only, 33% capacity, hand sanitizing stations, disposable menus, and employees wore gloves and masks. We went to one of our favorite local restaurants and enjoyed an evening of fantastic food (no cooking for me!), a familiar, friendly staff, and an appreciation of a common activity we’d previously taken for granted. Judging by other parking lots, plenty of folks showed up to support their local eateries.
I had a suprise from my publisher last week – Subject A36 now has an audiobook! Sarah is also on audio, but I avoid listening to my books. I can’t imagine anyone will sound like the characters who live in my mind, so I prefer my perceptions untainted, if that makes sense. But if you’re an avid listener, click HERE for Amazon.
Has anyone watched the new Snowpiercer series? The original sci-fi/dystopian movie was released in 2013 (you can watch it on Netflix) and was directed by Bong Joon-ho, the Oscar-winning director of Parasite. Anyhoo, I watched the first episode last week, and I couldn’t look away. Awesome cast, awesome premise. If you’re not familiar with it, here’s a brief description. It’s a must watch for sci-fi fans.
Survivors of Earth’s second Ice Age live out their days on a luxury train that ploughs through snow and ice. The train’s poorest residents, who live in the squalid caboose, plan to improve their lot by taking over the engine room.
Have a great week and stay healthy!
Great to hear your books are available on audio. Audiobooks are becoming very popular. Nice to go out for a meal again. Maybe next week for us. Take care!!

I’ve been listening to more audiobooks lately, Darlene – makes household chores more bearable, lol. A narrator can make or break the book for me, but I’ve come across some outstanding ones. Hope you get to venture out soon!

I have seen the movie. It was interesting. I found it to have many layers but my husband wasn’t a fan. That’s great that your book is now in audio form. Congrats!🍾

Thanks, Tessa! I watched the movie years ago and remember being intrigued by the concept, but I really need to go back and re-watch it. My hubby won’t watch anything sci-fi/fantasy/horror-related – which are all my fav genres!

We saw the movie and will start the series tonight, Teri. Thanks for the recommendation! And good for you for taking the step to eat out. We’re not ready for that yet even though Oregon is doing well. I have to be extra careful since I care for my parents. 🙂 I can’t wait though!!

Hope you enjoy it just as much, Diana! Both sets of parents are in another state, but we’d hesitate to go out so soon if they were close by. Hope you can get out soon!

After the past few months, it was a much appreciated night out, John. And no cooking for me!

Yes. I can appreciate that. (I do most of the cooking here)

Thanks, Jacquie! I’ve been listening to more audiobooks myself over the past couple years – especially on solo road trips.

Oh yay! I grabbed the audio book of Subject A36. I loved the audio book of Sarah. The narrator did a great job. My TBR for audio books is shorter than my very long TBR for ebooks.

Thanks so much, Robbie! Let me know how the narrator is on A36 – it’s a female this time.

I might be brave enough to listen to a sample myself, Sophie. You’ve inspired me.

I long for the day when I can go out to a restaurant and enjoy a nice sit down dinner with drinks again. We are finally moving to yellow phase this Friday. It’s a step. Slow progress but getting there.
I tried to watch Snowpiercer, I was hooked on the premises. Maybe I didn’t give it enough of a chance, but I ended up switching it off and being disappointed. These days if something doesn’t hook me within ten minutes I move on. Like I said, maybe I should have hung around longer.

I hope you can have that night soon, Mae! I know every state is moving at its own pace. KY seems to be in the middle – not one of the first states to open, but its easing up sooner than many others.
Maybe you should give it 20 minutes? I think the mystery part would intrigue you, but that doesn’t come about until about the middle of the episode.

Congrats on getting the audio books, Teri 🙂 I think I’d be with you though, I couldn’t imagine anyone narrating my stories but the voices in my head…

Thanks, Jessica! I stopped listening after hearing the narrator of my first book give a character a southern accent – which he absolutely didn’t have. He revised it, but I hever had the nerve to listen again, lol.

Awesome about the audio book, and nice you got to go out for dinner. Places here have started being allowed to open up a bit, but it’s still pick-up or delivery only, so if they can’t pack your food to go, they can’t open.

We’ve had the take-out or delivery options for the past couple of months, but Friday was the first day restaurants could offer dine-in service – and we’d really missed it, Tori. Many of the places have outdoor dining, so that makes some folks feel more comfortable, too.

Snowpiercer, the Movie, was great! I have to say, I found the ending a little confusing, but I’d be willing to give the series a shot.
