Introverts, #AmWatching, and To-Do List

With most of us hanging close to home, both adults and kids may find themselves bored.  For us introverts, not so much.  I have a list of things I’ve been meaning to get to, and now looks like the perfect time.

Read books and more books (seriously, you had to see this one coming).  Maybe I can finally make a serious dent in the TBR pile.  Less errands to run = more time to curl up with good reads.

Clear out the Netflix list.  I’ve added several things I want to watch (still haven’t gotten to Witcher) but haven’t had time to get to.  I just noticed they added a second season of Altered Carbon, and season 3 of Ozark drops March 27th.  With Disney+, I’m still trying to watch The Mandalorian – technical difficulties have prevented my viewing so far.  ESPN+ is no problem – hubby and I are making our way through Peyton’s Places and loving it.

Our garage and storage area could use a good cleaning out.  We’re not hoarders by any means, but the boys have stashed sports equipment and art supplies they no longer need/use in the garage, college moves have resulted in unused/unwanted furniture, and hubby could probably open a golf store with what he has on the shelves.  Old Christmas decorations and some toys could be removed from the storage area.  Last time I was up there, I discovered the youngest son had added several boxes without telling us.  We just thought he finally cleaned out his bedroom.  Should have known better.

Don’t even get me started on the yard.  I bought weed killer a couple weeks ago, but we’ve had so much rain I haven’t been able to spray.  We also lost several bushes over the winter that need to be dug up, and others need to be trimmed.

The list goes on, but I won’t bore you with everything.

Last week before everyone hunkered down, the oldest son and I saw Ben Affleck’s new movie, The Way Back.  Affleck turned in a fantastic performance, and the story contained both comedic moments with the high school boys he coached and heartfelt situations involving his struggle with alcohol addiction and grief over the loss of a child.  We’d both recommend it.

Have a great week and wash those hands!

  1. Yup, a good time to do things we never have enough time to do. Yesterday I baked a big batch of spiced apple muffins. Today I will write and read. I plan to make a dent in my TBR pile as well. Total lockdown in Spain and I’m an extravert so it will be tough. As long as hubby and I don’t kill each other, we’ll be OK. Take care and stay safe and healthy.

    1. Those muffins sound delicious, Darlene – wish I could drop by and sample them! My hubby has option to go into work or work from home, but he went in for some conference calls. The time apart is good, lol.

  2. With what is currently going on in our world, now seems to be the perfect time to get all those household jobs done, Teri. We’re planning on painting our lounge this week, and I’m sure we’ll find plenty more to do. Thank goodness for NetFlix and all the other streaming services. If we’re forced to stay at home, at least we’ll have plenty to do. Plus, of course, we all keep in touch via the internet.

The only thing I can’t get on with is watching all the panic buying, especially for toilet-paper. There must be a reason why everyone is buying it, but I’ve heard so many different reasons, I’ve given up worrying about it.

I’ve got plenty of red wine and chocolate in stock. (Easter Eggs are already half price), so I won’t go hungry or thirsty.

Take care in these strange times.

    1. Yes – the toilet paper! It’s bizarre. My youngest son (lives in his college apartment) asked if there was any in the stores because he was out – luckily, we have some to spare, lol. If you’re stocked with red wine and chocolate, you’re in good shape. Have fun painting!

  3. It sounds like you have plenty of plans to keep you busy, Teri. I’ve been behind on my reading lately and am hoping (like you) to make a sizable dent in my TBR. I tried to get most everything done this past weekend that involved a lot of social contact (stores. etc.). I have two upcoming nights out with friends, and I have a feeling those are going to be put on hold. 😦

    1. We just had book club a week ago Saturday, and the other is through the library so that probably canceled for later in the month. The only outings I’ll be having is picking up my car at the shop tomorrow and grocery shopping when needed. Happy Reading, Mae!

  4. You have plenty to do to keep yourself busy. The question is, will you? I have so much to tick off from my list, but… with the kids home, I don’t think I’ll achieve much. On the contrary, I’ll probably do less. Stay safe.

  5. I’d be curious to hear what you think of the Witcher when you finally get to it, Teri. I’m a massive Witcher game and book fan, but I hated the series. Gave up after 3 eps.
Introverts everywhere, unite! (Separately… in your own homes)…

  6. This staying at home thing is making my life a lot more complex, Teri. They boys are both going to be doing their schooling on line until 5 May which means I must supervise them all day rather than just for homework. We are also working from home which has somehow let to endless Skype calls and the house is much messier now with everyone at home. On the bright side, I don’t have to sit in traffic to get to and from work. A small silver lining in the chaos.

    1. My youngest son’s spring break was extended by a week and then all classes will be online for the rest of the semester. I can’t imagine you’ll get much work done with your boys home – I know I wouldn’t, lol. But you’re right about the traffic. At least that some time you get back each day.

        1. When my youngest (who I constantly butted heads with over homework) said he thought I should home school him, I told him if that ever happened, one of us wouldn’t survive it – and I wasn’t sure which of us it would be, lol. Just take it one hour at a time, visualize your happy place, and breathe deeply, Robbie. Wishing you much luck!
