An Interview and #BookReview #TuesdayBookBlog

Tony Eames hosted me for an interview at NFReads.com yesterday – you can read the interview here.  Find out how I deal with negative feedback, and my creativity tricks (spoiler ahead – not that many), among other things.

Then jump over to Michele and Nina’s blog, 2Quirky, to read Nina’s reviews of both Sarah and The Gemini Connection.  Nina’s not really a sci-fi or horror reader, but I was thrilled she took a chance on my books and enjoyed them!

    1. I couldn’t find anywhere to comment on your interview so I came back to comment here. Did I tell you that your book Sarah inspired me to try my hand at horror writing and I am now nearly finished editing Through the Nethergate. I am not going to try a Sci-fi/ dystopian book and after reading your interview, I thought that is similar to your path. Isn’t that interesting? and we both have two amazing boys.

  1. The interview was awesome but I couldn’t find a place to leave a comment.

Congrats on the wonderful reviews. They are so well deserved. I can’t wait to see what you do next with your third book! 🙂

Thank you so much for the shoutout!

I also enjoyed reading your interview, especially the part about dealing with negative feedback. If there is something to learn from it, note it. If not, do not waste too much time on it. That is the healthiest approach to it.

    Thanks again!

    1. You’re welcome, Nina – thanks again! With the negative reviews, you could drive yourself crazy obsessing over them. Even Harry Potter received bad reviews. Some books just aren’t for certain readers.

  3. Congratulations on the excellent reviews, Teri. Your interview was fascinating to read. I like how you tackle ‘negative’ or ‘bad’ reviews. Letting go of your characters sounds tough. That’s probably why I stick to writing short stories.

I’ve been contacted by Tony at NFReads, too. Did he send you the questions you answered or were you able to choose them?

    1. Thanks, Hugh! I know some authors who let bad reviews really get them down, but I prefer to take it for what it is, and then move on. There are more important things in life.

Tony sent me a long list of questions and said I could pick and choose, or even add some of my own. Really easy to work with.
