WWW Wednesday is a meme from Sam at Taking On A World Of Words
The Three Ws are:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?
I’m currently reading Smoke and Iron (The Great Library #4) by Rachel Caine. I don’t understand why this YA fantasy series hasn’t gotten more attention. Besides its wonderfully inclusive cast and stunning covers, it offers something for everyone – action, a bit of romance and history, power struggles, both clever and untrustworthy characters, and a heaping load of suspense.
The opening moves of a deadly game have begun. Jess Brightwell has put himself in direct peril, with only his wits and skill to aid him in a game of cat and mouse with the Archivist Magister of the Great Library. With the world catching fire, and words printed on paper the spark that lights rebellion, it falls to smugglers, thieves, and scholars to save a library thousands of years in the making…if they can stay alive long enough to outwit their enemies.
I just finished Ash and Quill (The Great Library #3) by Rachel Caine. Did I mention the gorgeous covers?
Hoarding all the knowledge of the world, the Great Library jealously guards its secrets. But now a group of rebels poses a dangerous threat to its tyranny…
Jess Brightwell and his band of exiles have fled London, only to find themselves imprisoned in Philadelphia, a city led by those who would rather burn books than submit. But Jess and his friends have a bargaining chip: the knowledge to build a machine that will break the Library’s rule.
Their time is running out. To survive, they’ll have to choose to live or die as one, to take the fight to their enemies—and to save the very soul of the Great Library…
Next, I’ll read Scream Site, by Justina Ireland. This will be my first experience with this author, but I’ve heard fantastic things about her newest book, Dread Nation.
Sabrina Sebastian’s goal in life is to be an investigative reporter. For her first big story, she researches a popular website called Scream Site, where people post scary videos and compete for the most “screams.” While Sabrina’s friends and her sister, Faith, talk nonstop about the creepy viral videos, Sabrina just hopes that covering this trend will get her the internship she’s wishing for. But as she digs into the truth behind the website, she begins to suspect that these aren’t only aspiring actors and videographers at work. Some clips seem a little too real. And when Faith goes missing, Sabrina must race against time to save her sister from becoming the next video “star.”
The words “The Great Library” immediately grabbed my attention, Teri. I don’t recall seeing this series. It sounds right up my alley. Sigh… for some pleasure reading time.
I enjoy your reading lists and descriptions. Hugs!

Exactly, Teagan! Besides all this series offers – it’s about books! What else does a reader need?

I’m not one who shops by book cover. (I know; I’m WAY in the minority on that one.) But you’re so right — those covers drew me right in. The blurbs are good, too. If the series is as good as you say, I hope it takes off. Success sounds well-deserved.

Book covers (and wine labels) lure me in, but I’m more apt to try a wine based on the label than a book based on the cover. I’m hoping people discover this series – I’m about halfway through the newest one, and I’d love to just set everything aside and finish it, but not happening.

The covers for Rachel Caine’s books are gorgeous.
And Scream Site sounds extremely interesting. That one will probably find its way onto my TBR.

Found you in my spam folder! I just finished the fourth book in the series and it was better than the last one – can’t wait for the final book.

The covers of the Great Library series really are beautiful. I have to admit, though, that while I loved Ink and Bone, I couldn’t get into Paper and Fire at all so I left it there… I do love a lot of Rachel Caine’s writing in general, though. Have you read her Stillhouse Lake duology-possibly-trilogy? If you are into thrillers, that is.

I haven’t read any of her other books, but I know she’s written several. I’m reading the ARC of Smoke and Iron, and a lot of things are coming to a head right now – but I do think the series could have been trimmed a bit. Five books is a little much.

The all sound so good. I’ve not actually read any of them though. I can see my TBR list getting bigger.
