An enchanting story from Maggie Stiefvater featuring Opal, Ronan, and Adam from her bestselling Raven Cycle, taking place after the events of The Raven King. – Goodreads.com
I nearly cried at how amazing it felt to be back in this world with these characters – I didn’t want it to end (can’t wait for the Ronan books!) I love this author’s writing style – the way she puts words together, the emotions they evoke – so impactful.
Opal is a treasure – sweet, funny, curious, loving, and exceptionally mischievous. Just a treat to read. Ronan and Adam? *heavy sigh* A couple of my all-time favorite characters.
If you’re a fan of The Raven Cycle don’t miss this – it’s a short novella (under 40 pages), and every minute spent reading is sheer pleasure.
“Nearly cried at how amazing…” is music to an author’s ears. Wonderful to see a fan so enthused.

I was definitely enthused. It just amazes me how someone can create characters and a world that seem so real – like the person could walk into the room at any moment. This author was going to be at the book festival I’m attending this weekend, but had to cancel due to health issues – nearly cried over that one, too.

Hold it. There are Ronan books?!
I have Opal. ❤ Just need to get some time to read it (that counts as self-care, you know). Read the first chapter and I LOVE it.

She’s writing a whole Ronan series! Did I just make your day? So excited for this.

No! No, you didn’t. You just added to my TBR pile which, at this point, I really think is going to topple and kill me. (An entire Ronan series? Really?!!!)

Not sure how you feel about young adult books in general, Diana, but this is one of the best fantasy series I’ve read. Can’t recommend it enough.

I like them, Teri, as long as they aren’t too angsty and full of insta-love romance. I’ve heard of this series before and am looking forward to picking it up. 🙂

This one definitely doesn’t fall into that category, Diana – I’m not a fan of those, either. This series has quirky, humorous, complicated, flawed characters and a highly original storyline.

Awesome. I purchased the first in the series yesterday. Now I just have to get to it!

That’s quite a recommendation, Teri!
And I love when my favorite authors release short novellas to tide me over between longer works. This must have been a wonderful treat for you.

Better than a box of dark chocolates, Mae – and coming from me, that’s saying a lot. It was like a preview of what’s to come in her new series.
