Hubs out of town, so I did nothing except read and write over the weekend – and finished two books! I’m also proud of the fact that the local library’s used book sale was this weekend and I held my ground and didn’t add anymore to the TBR pile. Let me tell you, that was a tough one to stay away from.
My son and I also found some time to watch Captain Fantastic with Viggo Mortensen and rated it two thumbs up – a thought-provoking movie with an outstanding performance from Mortensen (but he’ll always be Aragorn to me). Add it to your list if you haven’t seen it.
I finally finished The Shadow Queen. I was never much for fairy tales growing up, but this take on Snow White was hard to put down – creative world-building and strong, fun characters surrounded by magic – and dragons!
I read out of order again. Sometimes what I read depends on what’s closest to me at the time – my Nook or Kindle. Type and Cross by Staci Troilo immediately grabbed me – so many secrets in this small town. The full review will be posted soon.

Up next:
TBR: 104
Read: 2
Bought: ZERO!!! (due to an exorbitant amount of restraint on my part)
Total: 102
I loved Type and Cross. Those characters stayed with me for days.
I’m proud of you for resisting the Library book sale. My local library holds one every August. I still haven’t put a dent in what I bought last year, but will probably be there again this August, LOL. Between now and then I need to work on downsizing my TBR! 🙂

I nearly broke out in cold sweats, but managed to stay away! They’ll have another sale in September, so I’ll probably be there again. Skipping two is unheard of.

Sinful for sure, LOL!

Teri, I’m so glad to hear the story grabbed you. I look forward to reading your review.
And thank you once again, Mae Clair, for the kind words about my work.

Saw the next one in the series is more about Jensen – need to get that one on the list!

His story was fun to write. I really like his circle of friends, who just might have their own stories in the not-so-distant future. 🙂

Sounds like I’d better get caught up!

Mortensen will ALWAYS be Aragorn. Always. I decided a while ago to make Sundays my read a book from my ‘promised to review’ pile. Technically, it’s work. In reality, it’s Sunday spent in my awesome reading chair drinking coffee and fighting the dog for dominance over the chair.

I like your style – our Sundays look a lot alike – only I have a Diet Coke and I’m fighting my cat.

Diet Coke is for the afternoon 😉

I have a huge TBR list too. I keep swapping around those at the top when I see more about the books listed on my kindle reviewed on some great reader and author blogs!

I do the same thing – unless it’s a friend, I’ll switch around the TBR pile based on what I hear about the book.

I have just read and reviewed a stack of great reads, so now I can’t wait to jump into the next on my list!

Well done on the restraint! I took a lot of books into the local charity shop a few weeks ago and it was so hard walking out without filling my bags back up with their existing stock! 😂 Cheap books are so hard to resist!

You’re a stronger woman than I, Claire – no way could I have walked out without something!

I just finished A Conjuring of Light! Such a good ending to the series. It took me forever to read though because I’ve been moving houses, it’ll definitely be a reread though! Also, I love anything Libba Bray, and The Diviners is amazing! The only downside is how long it takes before the next one in the series comes out.

I’m such a huge fan of Victoria Schwab – would love to spend a day in her head. I’ve only heard good things about The Diviners – have had it in the pile for 2 years? More?

Same! And the Gemma Doyle series Bray did is still one of my favorite books/series.

Ha ha ha. You’re never doing to get through your pile! Well, me neither. Lucky you to have a free weekend to indulge in reading and writing. Sounds wonderful.

My TBR pile, if toppled, would bury me. And yet… I probably would have bought a few. It’s an addiction. Anyway, thank you so very much for adding another book to my list: The Shadow Queen. 😉 No, really, it looks like something I’d enjoy. After yours, of course. I’ve got my priorities.

Definitely an addiction – pretty sure a support group wouldn’t help. We’d probably just wind up loaning each other books. I really did enjoy The Shadow Queen – and that’s a gorgeous cover. I like your priorities – hope you enjoy Sarah!
